 The Citizen of the year was awarded to Leon Booth.

His citation was:

Leon was awarded the honour for his involvement with the CFS (Country Fire Service) and various sporting bodies.

He first joined the EFS (Emergency Fire Service) in Eudunda in 1968 and when he became employed at Robertstown, he joined the local CFS in 1980, a period spanning 35 years.

Leon has been Captain of the Brigade for the last 15 years - a role that take an enormous amount of time.

He is qualified in levels 1, 2 & 3 in compressed air breathing apparatus and road crash rescue- has the required level necessary in first aid , has attended many courses to better his skills - has received a 20 year Volunteer Medal from CFS and National Medal and just six weeks ago was made a Life Member of the CFS.

He is also a member of the Goyder Bushfire Prevention Committee and has volunteered his time in fighting fires interstate on two occasions, and also on Kangaroo Island.

Leon has also been involved with the Robertstown Football Club for over 20 years - as a player in A & B Grades and has served the club as a goal umpire, timekeeper, coached the colts and acted as field umpire for colts matches.

He also played bowls, tennis darts and 8-ball for Robertstown.

Leon is employed with the local Council and holds the position of Ganger.
